President Mahama reaffirms commitment to vast economic opportunities for youth

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to expanding economic opportunities for young people across the country, with a particular focus on technical and vocational education in Muslim communities.
Speaking during a courtesy call by Regional Chief Imams at the presidency, the president emphasised the importance of scaling up technical and vocational training to equip young people with practical, marketable skills that can lead to employment and self-sufficiency.
He assured the chief imams that Muslim communities will not be left behind in this drive, highlighting inclusive development as a central pillar of national progress.
The initiative is aimed at improving youth employability and promoting economic independence through skill development tailored to the needs of various communities.
President Mahama further revealed plans for a targeted micro-credit scheme specifically designed for Zongo communities.
This program is expected to provide financial support and boost small-scale enterprises in these areas, empowering residents to pursue entrepreneurial ventures and sustainable livelihoods.
To spearhead the effort, the president confirmed the appointment of a coordinator for the Zongo Development Fund, along with a deputy. Both officials will soon begin implementing the micro-credit program as part of broader efforts to advance economic empowerment in Zongo communities.
President Mahama expressed confidence that young people, particularly within Muslim communities, will take full advantage of these transformative initiatives designed to create lasting economic impact.
