Bryan Acheampong's campaign strategist warns NPP against confronting religious leaders

Founding President of UP Tradition Institute, and a leading member of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) and senior strategist in the Dr. Bryan Acheampong for President 2028 campaign, Dr Razak Kojo Opoku, has cautioned the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against antagonising religious leaders, warning that such actions could jeopardise the party’s electoral fortunes.
According to Dr Opoku, there are influential Christian leaders and prophets in Ghana whose voices carry significant weight, and political actors must exercise restraint when responding to them, regardless of disagreements.
“There are particular Christian leaders and prophets you don’t attack or allow your supporters to attack if you are serious about winning power in this country—especially if your candidate is already suffering from demographic challenges,” he said.
Dr Opoku gave this advice to the party in a post on Facebook
He further criticised the current leadership of the NPP, describing the party as “spiritually, physically, and strategically weak.”
He alleged that the party is “gradually reducing to a group of characterless people, embracing lies, and rejecting the truth.”
The remarks come at a time when internal conversations within the NPP are intensifying around strategies for the 2028 general elections, with concerns about the party’s messaging, alliances, and public image.
