President John Dramani Mahama has received Letters of Credence from five newly appointed ambassadors at a ceremony held at the Jubilee House in Accra.

The envoys—representing Burundi, Tunisia, Jamaica, Greece, and Vietnam—were formally welcomed by President Mahama as they began their diplomatic missions in Ghana.

They include Edouard Nduwimana of Burundi, Atit Mohsen of Tunisia, Lincoln Downer of Jamaica, Athanasios Kotsionis of Greece, and Bui Quoc Hung of Vietnam.

In his remarks, President Mahama highlighted the importance of deepening bilateral relations and called for the establishment of Permanent Joint Commissions for Cooperation between Ghana and each of the represented countries.

He said such partnerships would help identify and expand trade and economic opportunities for mutual benefit.

“Our vision is to build stronger partnerships that will enhance trade, investment, and cultural exchange,” the President noted, urging the envoys to work closely with Ghanaian institutions to advance shared interests.

President Mahama also took the opportunity to announce Ghana’s intention to contest for the Chairmanship of the African Union Commission.

He appealed specifically to the ambassadors from Burundi and Tunisia to support Ghana’s candidacy when the election takes place.

The newly accredited envoys pledged to strengthen diplomatic ties and promote cooperation in various areas, including education, health, agriculture, and technology.
