V/R: Gov't to strengthen TVET in Klefe Traditional Area

The Government of Ghana has pledged to immediately make provisions to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training ( TVET) in Klefe Traditional Area of the Volta Region.  

This was revealed in a speech read on behalf of His Excellency the Vice President by Alex Segbefia at the 2025 Klefe Traditional Area Yam Festival and Fundraising Durbar on  September,27,2025. 

In response to concerns raised by the Paramount Chief of the area, Togbe Koku Dzaga XI, the government says it is committed to providing the necessary solutions needed. 

"I have directed the Ghana Education Trust Fund to conduct an urgent assessment of the Klefe Technical Institute's infrastructure needs", he stated 

Materials such as painting supplies, fencing materials, and the 40 double-decker beds, mattresses and a school bus are expected to be provided to the school, as well as the completion of the ongoing dormitory and teachers' residence projects.

"The administration block, dormitory blocks, dining hall, additional classrooms, and other facilities you have requested will receive priority consideration in the next funding cycle", he added. 

The government also promised to provide Equipment and Transportation. 

"The Ministry of Education will work with COTVET to provide the necessary tools and equipment for sewing, fashion design, catering, welding, fabrication, and other technical areas", he said. 

Beyond the technical institute, the government also made efforts to address environmental challenges in the area.

"The Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation will collaborate with the Klefe Traditional Council to develop sustainable environmental management practices that combat deforestation, illegal mining, and pollution while supporting your agricultural heritage", he assured. 

He further urged the youth of Klefe to avoid substance abuse and embrace technical education and skills development.

This year's Yam Festival celebration is under the theme, "Youth Development, The Future of Our Community"
