Court grants GHC13 million bail to four over cocaine export attempt at KIA
A Circuit Court in Accra has granted a combined bail of GHC13 million to four individuals accused of attempting to traffic 73 slabs of cocaine through the Swissport terminal at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
The suspects were arrested in connection with the foiled drug smuggling operation, which involved a significant quantity of cocaine reportedly bound for export.
Details of the case reveal that the illicit substance was intercepted during security checks at the airport’s cargo terminal.
At their court appearance, the prosecution presented preliminary findings linking the accused to the narcotics. The court, however, granted each of the suspects bail with conditions totalling GHC13 million collectively.
The case has since been adjourned while investigations continue.
