The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has granted bail to Dennis Edward 'Miracles' Aboagye, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team, following his arrest on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Accra International Airport.

Aboagye was granted bail in the sum of GH¢50 million with three sureties to be justified. His release follows hours of engagement between his legal counsel and EOCO officials.

Aboagye is currently under investigation for alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities stemming from his time as the executive secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).

EOCO is investigating Aboagye, along with former IMCCoD accountant Gerald Appiah and other unnamed individuals, in connection with the alleged misappropriation, diversion, and theft of public funds totaling approximately GH¢55 million. The probe covers a forensic audit period from August 1, 2022, to February 2, 2025.

According to the anti-graft agency, suspected offenses under investigation include conspiracy to steal, causing financial loss to the state, money laundering, and using public office for profit.

Aboagye’s arrest drew a crowd of supporters to the EOCO headquarters, necessitating the deployment of military, national security, and police personnel to manage the area.

The NPP has criticised the move, labeling it an attempt to intimidate party members.

Conversely, EOCO maintains that its actions are part of a lawful investigation and that all proceedings will follow due process.
