The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has neutralised a notorious armed robbery suspect, Osman Majid Abdul Sadik, popularly known as “Cross”, during an intelligence-led operation at Offinso Anyankaso in the Ashanti North Region.

According to a police report, the suspect, who was on the wanted list for multiple robberies and murders in Mankranso and surrounding communities, had been tracked to three separate hideouts in Offinso, where he and his gang were believed to be operating.

A special police team, led by three senior officers and other ranks, launched a coordinated raid using four service vehicles (both branded and unbranded) to storm the identified locations simultaneously.

At one of the hideouts in Offinso Anyankaso, the suspect reportedly fired at the police from his room and attempted to escape through the ceiling.

The police team returned fire in self-defense, during which two suspects sustained gunshot wounds.

A subsequent search of the premises led to the recovery of several weapons and items, including:

One pump-action gun with six rounds of ammunition

One black Smith & Wesson pistol

Fifty rounds of 9mm ammunition

One unmarked pistol

Two spent cartridges

Three smartphones and two keypad phones

One Apple laptop and mobile phone accessories

One machete, a smock, and an ash singlet containing talismans

One black and one brown body armour

Two pairs of long boots (desert and black)

A framed photo of the gang

A Ghanacard bearing the name “Osman Majid” with the suspect’s image

Cash amounting to GH¢2,680

During interrogation, the suspects identified themselves as Abdul Sadik alias Cross (25 years) and Abdulai Sadik (20 years).

Cross confessed to committing multiple robberies in the Manso area and admitted responsibility for the murders of three individuals at Mankranso.

He also mentioned several accomplices—Kingkong, Roy, Fii, Raph, Koboo, Ali, and Ike—and disclosed that some of their weapons were being kept at a mining site in Manso.

The injured suspects were rushed to the Bekwai Municipal Hospital for treatment, but were pronounced dead on arrival.

Their bodies have since been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the matter and is pursuing the remaining gang members to recover the outstanding firearms and bring all accomplices to justice.
