2023 Times Higher Edu Rankings: UCC ranked best university in Ghana

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) is the best university in Ghana and first in West Africa.
This is according to the 2023 Times Higher Education Rankings.
UCC is also ranked Ghana’s best university for research influence.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023 include 1,799 universities across 104 countries and regions.
This makes it the largest and most diverse university ranking to date.
The most-represented country overall, is the US, with 177 institutions.
The US is also the most represented in the top 200.
China has the 4th-highest number of institutions in the top 200.
Also, five countries, for the first time, entered the ranking.
All five are from Africa including Zambia, Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Mauritius.
The Teaching pillar is topped by Harvard with Oxford leading the research pillar.
The International Pillar is topped by the Macau University of Science and Technology.
1,799 universities are ranked overall
While 526 universities are listed with “reporter” status.
This means they provided data but did not meet the eligibility criteria to receive a rank, however, they agreed to be displayed as a reporter in the final table.
