GES cautions parents: School placement is free

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed reports circulating on social media suggesting that parents and guardians are being charged for the placement of their wards into Senior High Schools.
In a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Feny, the GES stressed that the placement exercise is “absolutely free of charge” and cautioned parents against paying money to any individual or group for school placement.
According to the statement, all placements into Senior High Schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions are strictly merit-based and processed through official systems.
The GES advised parents and guardians to rely solely on the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal, the established Resolution Centres, and official communication channels of the service for any placement-related concerns.
The statement further urged the public to report immediately to the GES or the nearest police station if approached with demands for money in exchange for school placement.
Reaffirming its commitment to fairness and transparency, the GES emphasised that no qualified candidate would be disadvantaged, and the placement process remains free for all.
