UG Council Chair embarks on inaugural campus tour

Chairperson of the University of Ghana Council, Madam Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew, has undertaken her first official tour of the Legon campus, marking the beginning of her engagement with the wider University community.
The tour focused on key infrastructural and academic development sites, including the University’s three prestigious World Bank-funded Centres of Excellence: the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP), the West African Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), and the West African Genetic Medicine Centre (WAGMC).
The delegation also visited the Radio Univers studios and the Digital Youth Village (DYV) project site.
Madam Brew was accompanied by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo; Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Gordon Awandare; Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Development, Prof. Felix Ankomah Asante; Registrar Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah; Provosts of the various colleges; as well as heads of department and senior administrative staff.
During the visit, the Council Chair reaffirmed her commitment to advancing the University’s mission of “creating an enabling environment that makes the University of Ghana increasingly relevant to national and global development through cutting-edge research and quality teaching and learning.”
Her tour reflects a proactive approach to leadership and engagement as she begins her tenure with a strong focus on supporting academic excellence, innovation, and infrastructure development at Ghana’s premier university.
