The Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Jerry Ahmed Shaib,  has officially launched the MP's BECE Mock Examination 2025, a major initiative aimed at enhancing the academic readiness of final-year Basic Education Certificate Examination participants across the constituency.

At a colourful ceremony attended by the Municipal Director of Education, the Municipal Chief Executive, Queen Mothers of Weija and Gbawe, head teachers, school administrators, parents, and students, Mr. Shaib emphasised the critical role of preparation in academic success.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” he said, quoting Nelson Mandela, and stressed that preparation is the key to unlocking students' potential.

The MP’s BECE Mock Examination will provide every final-year student with access to standardised practice exams, marked and assessed by experienced educators.

Participation is entirely free for all students, ensuring that no learner is left behind due to financial constraints.

Highlighting the challenges many students face, Mr Shaib pointed out that brilliant learners often underperform due to a lack of exposure and structured exam practice.

The new initiative, he said, will help level the playing field for all students, regardless of background.

As part of the programme, schools that excel in the mock exams and the final BECE will receive special awards and packages.

This move is designed to promote healthy academic competition and to motivate teachers and students alike to strive for excellence.

“This project is a demonstration of our shared commitment to the future of our children and reflects the value we place on education as the true cornerstone of development, opportunity, and empowerment,” Mr. Shaib stated.

He extended appreciation to the Ghana Education Service, head teachers, teachers, parents, constituency executives, and all stakeholders who contributed to making the initiative a reality.

Addressing the students directly, Mr Shaib encouraged them to seize the opportunity, study hard, and believe in their limitless potential.

“Prepare well, perform well — mock exams pave the way for excellence,” he told them.
