A/R: 13 perish in accident near Obuasi

A devastating accident early Monday morning, 14 October 2024, has left thirteen people dead following a VIP bus's plunge into a ditch near Kwapia, close to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
The bus was en route from Kumasi to Enchi when it veered off the road, resulting in the tragic loss of lives, including seven males, five females, and a child, all passengers on board.
Witnesses reported that the bus, registered as ER 2445-11, was overloaded after picking up stranded passengers from another bus that had broken down earlier on the route.
This situation reportedly led to tensions among some passengers regarding the bus's capacity, which may have distracted the driver, identified as Osei Adu.
While the majority of the passengers died instantly, the driver was taken to the hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The remains of the deceased have since been deposited at the morgue.
