Ashalaja: 4 land guards butcher landowner

Machete-wielding land guards have attacked one Nii Boi Quartey, a resident of Ashalaja in the Amasaman municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

He was attacked after he visited his plot of land to drive away some people who were raising structures on the property, which is a subject of litigation.

The victim, who is currently battling for his life at the Amasaman Government Hospital, was mercilessly slashed by the land guards.

Narrating the story to journalists in Accra, the brother of the victim, Odartey Lamptey explained that the incident took place on 9 February 2018.

According to him, four land guards namely George, a.k.a. Kooche; Khalifa, Bonda Obeney alias Mushea, and Asaa Brother pounced on his brother and inflicted machete wounds on him after he had rushed to the property to ascertain if the report he received about the invasion of the plot of land was true.

According to Lamptey, the land guards, who are currently on the run, mentioned the name of one Solomon Obeney Tawiah as the one who sent them.

He said the case has been reported to the police at Amasaman but they are yet to effect an arrest.
