DRIP initiative: We’ll equip MMDAs with earth-moving equipment for road construction – Bawumia

Vice-President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has announced a significant government initiative to equip Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country with earth-moving equipment.
The initiative, the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) is to enhance road construction efforts.
DRIP aims to empower local assemblies to undertake critical infrastructure development, including road construction.
Funded by the District Assembly Common Fund and donor partners, DRIP is designed to address the numerous infrastructure challenges faced by MMDAs.
Speaking at a rally in Wulensi in the Northern Region, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the transformative potential of the programme.
“We now have a new policy that we’re going to implement, which is basically the District Road Improvement Programme.
“Every district is going to be given a set of road equipment to work on your road, every district," Dr. Bawumia announced.
He further emphasised the comprehensive nature of the equipment provision.
"I’m happy to note that all the equipment that we have ordered has arrived and every district will get a set which includes an excavator, backhoe loader, wheel loaders, compact rollers, and tipper trucks. Every district, a set of equipment,” he stated.
