Tensions flared into violence as a confrontation between residents of Karaga in the Northern region, and  the military took a deadly turn, with reports of individuals allegedly hurling stones at the armed forces. 

The situation escalated further into gunfire, resulting in one fatality on Monday, 25 March 2024.

Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but eyewitnesses reported a heated exchange between civilians and military personnel. 

The confrontation quickly escalated into a violent altercation, with projectiles reportedly thrown at the military.

Amidst the chaos, gunfire erupted, shocking bystanders and escalating the situation to a tragic level. 

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the sequence of events leading to the fatal outcome.

The identity of the deceased individual has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

A curfew has since been imposed by the Karaga Security Council on the area.
