Defence Minister salutes NDC on 33rd anniversary, calls for unity and electoral reforms

Defence Minister and outgoing Director of Elections and IT of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has extended heartfelt congratulations to members, supporters, and sympathisers of the NDC as the party marks its 33rd anniversary.
In a statement issued to commemorate the occasion, Dr. Boamah paid glowing tribute to the party’s founding fathers, acknowledging their vision and perseverance in laying the solid foundations upon which the NDC stands today.
"As the outgoing Director of Elections and IT, I pay tribute to the pioneering efforts of our forebears, whose vision and perseverance have shaped our party into the robust entity it is today," he stated.
Reflecting on the party's performance in the 2024 general elections, Dr. Boamah said the NDC’s success was a testament to its ability to identify problems, innovate, and work together in unity.
“Our collective success in the 2024 elections underscores the power of problem identification, innovation, unity, collaboration, and determination,” he said.
Dr. Boamah emphasised the need to continue leveraging technology, human resource development, and innovation to improve Ghana’s electoral processes.
He advocated for inclusivity, transparency, and accountability as core principles to build public trust in the nation’s democratic systems.
He further stressed the importance of electoral reforms that promote fairness and justice, calling on stakeholders to take decisive steps toward achieving a level playing field in the country’s electoral landscape.
“We must not only advocate for a level playing field that empowers every Ghanaian's voice to be heard and every vote to count, but also take legitimate, decisive steps to achieve that,” he said.
Dr. Boamah also lauded the youth of the party for their energy and commitment, assuring them that opportunities are being created for everyone and that no one would be left behind.
“While commending our NDC forebears for their foundational work and our youth for their dynamism and passion, I wish to assure that opportunities are being created for each and every one of you.
We shall not leave you behind!” he declared.
He concluded with a rallying call for unity and collective action as the party works toward building a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Ghana.
“Happy Anniversary, NDC! May we be inspired to redouble our efforts towards a better Ghana for all.
Let us march forward together, united in our quest for a more just and equitable society.”
The NDC was founded in 1992 and has played a significant role in Ghana's democratic development, alternating in power with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the years.
