NIA staff call off strike

General News
NIA strike

The staff of the National Identification Authority (NIA) have called off their strike, which began on Monday, June 10.

This decision was influenced by interventions from the Minister for National Security, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), the National Labour Commission, and public outcry.

The FWSC assured the staff of good faith in upcoming negotiations regarding their conditions of service.

The NIA staff have warned that if the government does not grant Institution Specific Allowances by Friday, June 14, they will resume the strike.

The strike, initiated due to poor working conditions and stalled negotiations, had halted operations at all NIA offices, affecting many applicants.

The staff are hopeful for a positive outcome in Friday's negotiations.
