No militia training in Bawku - Police

The Ghana Police Service has firmly dismissed recent reports alleging the existence of militia training in Bawku, located in the Upper East Region.
According to the Police, these claims, which have been circulating in various publications, are entirely unfounded and without merit.
In a brief statement, the Police reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining peace and security in the region, condemning the spread of misinformation.
The statement emphasised that the Police are actively investigating the sources of these false reports and are committed to bringing those responsible to justice.
"The Ghana Police Service has noted with concern a publication alleging the training of some militiamen at Bawku in the Upper East Region. We wish to state that our investigation has found no evidence of such training in the area or its environs," the statement read.
"This is the second instance of such false publications within a week by some unpatriotic individuals, intended to create unnecessary alarm and panic among the public. The Police are working to bring the perpetrators to book, and the public should be assured that we will get them."
The Police urged the public to remain calm and assured them that all necessary steps are being taken to uphold security in the region.
