W/R: Assemblyman drowns on campaign trail at Prestea

A tragic incident occurred in Prestea, Western Region, as a 34-year-old teacher, Manasseh Addison Sackey, seeking re-election in the Teberebie electoral area, lost his life by drowning in a river connecting Aklika on Monday, December 4.
Popularly known as Teacher Obour, he was a dedicated educator at Teberebie M/A Junior High School.
The unfortunate incident unfolded while he was on his way to campaign in nearby villages, emphasising the risks politicians often face during election periods.
Reports revealed that Teacher Obour's drowning incident bore similarities to a former Assembly member in the same constituency who had contested against him four years prior, who also tragically drowned two weeks before the elections.
According to Nana Esi Brew Monney, a journalist from Prestea FM, the deceased was traveling with about five companions.
Despite warnings from his campaign crew to avoid the journey, Teacher Obour insisted that it was a short distance and assured them he would return promptly.
