Striking nurses meet Parliamentary Select-Committee on Health today

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health and Member of Parliament for Nabdam, Mr. Mark Kurt Nawaane, has called for an emergency meeting with the leadership of the striking nurses and midwives.
Members of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) declared an indefinite strike on June 2, citing the government’s failure to implement the 2024 Collective Agreement as the reason for their industrial action.
The Association argues that the prolonged delay in enforcing the agreement is not only detrimental to the welfare of its members but also undermines the quality of healthcare delivery across the country.
In response, the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health has invited the GRNMA leadership for discussions to address the situation and explore a way forward.
The Deputy Public Relations Officer of GRNMA, Mr. Philemon Agyapong, confirmed the invitation and stated that the meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. today.
He added that the Association’s next steps will depend on the outcome of the meeting with the parliamentary leadership.
He said the public will know their next line of action after the meeting with the Parliamentary leadership.
Mr Agyapong made this remark while speaking in an interview on Accra-based Neat FM's morning show hosted by Mac-Jerry Osei Agyemang.
