#2024Polls: Hajj Board Executive Secretary's aide arrested for suspected electoral fraud in Bolgatanga Central
Mr Mumuni Rufai, the personal aide to the Executive Secretary of the Hajj Board, Alhaji Hamza Faruk, has been arrested at the Aningazanga JHS Polling Station in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency for allegedly possessing over 100 thumb-printed ballot papers.
Rufai was reportedly in a queue to cast his vote when vigilant National Democratic Congress (NDC) polling agents suspected him of carrying unauthorized materials concealed in his "jallabia."
Acting on the agents' concerns, the police conducted a search, uncovering more than 100 ballot papers already thumb-printed in favour of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The suspect was immediately taken into custody by the police and transported to the Regional Police Headquarters for further investigation.
This incident has sparked outrage and heightened tensions in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, as stakeholders call for transparency and the enforcement of electoral laws to uphold the integrity of the 2024 general elections.
