Akufo-Addo delivers final SONA on Friday

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will deliver his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) to Parliament on Friday, January 3, 2025, as part of the Constitutional requirements ahead of the conclusion of his tenure.
The address, mandated by Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, will serve as the President’s final account of the state of the nation before leaving office on January 7, 2025.
Transition of ParliamentThe 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic will be officially dissolved on Monday, January 6, 2025.
On the same day, the 9th Parliament will convene at 11:00 PM to elect a Speaker and two Deputy Speakers to oversee the affairs of the new legislative term.
At midnight, the Speaker-elect and newly elected Members of Parliament will be sworn in, marking the formal transition to the 9th Parliament.
Media ArrangementsIn preparation for these historic events, Parliament has advised media personnel to obtain accreditation in advance to ensure seamless coverage.
