Come to terms with 2024 electoral loss swiftly – Ato Forson advises Minority
The Majority Leader in Parliament, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has called on the Minority to come to terms with their loss in the 2024 general election and cooperate with the newly formed government.
Speaking at a press conference in Parliament on Tuesday, 21 January 2025, he emphasised the importance of unity and focus on national development.
“We urge them to come to terms with their resounding defeat and allow the two-week-old government to steer the affairs of the state in line with the mandate of the good people of Ghana,” Dr Forson stated.
He highlighted that the electorate had made their choice, and it was time to respect their decision for the sake of progress.
The Majority Leader further appealed to the Minority to abandon any confrontational stance and work collaboratively with the government to address pressing national issues.
He noted that partisan bickering at this early stage could hinder the country’s development agenda.
Dr Forson also commended Ghanaians for the peaceful conduct of the election and urged all political actors to prioritise the nation's interests over political differences.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to fulfilling its campaign promises and delivering on its mandate.
