Dec. 7 polls: EC clears 9 political parties, 4 independent candidates for presidential race

The Jean Mensa-led Electoral Commission (EC) has officially cleared 9 political parties and four independent candidates to participate in the upcoming presidential elections.
Ghana goes to the polls on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
In a statement issued on September 20, and signed by Deputy Chairman of Operations, Samuel Tetteh, the EC confirmed the New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Convention People’s Party (CPP), All People’s Party (APC), Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), and National Democratic Party (NDP) have all met the necessary requirements to contest the presidential race.
Additionally, four independent candidates: Alan Kyerematen, George Twum-Barima-Adu, Nana Kwame Bediako, and Kofi Koranteng, have also been cleared to appear on the ballot in the highly anticipated elections.
