The Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has reassured Ghanaians that the Ghana Police Service will be in full control of security for today's elections in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

In a statement, he emphasised that there will be no military deployment during the election, stressing the importance of ensuring a peaceful and democratic process.

Dr. Omane Boamah urged Ghanaians to learn from past electoral incidents, such as the violence during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election and the tragic deaths of eight Ghanaians during the 2020 elections.

He reiterated that citizen safety and security must be prioritised above all else.

"The Ghana Police Service is fully trained to handle electoral security, and we have complete trust in their ability to maintain peace and order," the Defence Minister stated.

He further called on all citizens to exercise their right to vote peacefully and to contribute to a calm and safe election environment.

"Let us keep the peace and make our voices heard as John Dramani Mahama resets Ghana and creates more opportunities for Ghanaians."

The announcement comes as the nation prepares for another significant electoral event, with voters urged to cast their ballots without fear and in the spirit of democracy.
