'Hands off our hotels’ demonstrators pelt police with stones
Some participants of the 'Hands Off Our Hotels' demonstration in Accra on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, were seen pelting Police officers with stones as they provided security for the march.
The officers sought cover under their shields while continuing their security duties.
Tensions escalated when Police insisted that demonstrators adhere to the agreed routes near the Christ the King Catholic Church close to the Jubilee House.
Despite the confrontation, the demonstration, aimed at stopping the government from selling 60% shares in SSNIT-owned hotels to Agric Minister Bryan Acheampong, concluded peacefully.
