IT and statistics ahead of 2024 elections are your weakest links - NDC to EC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised concerns about the Electoral Commission of Ghana's (EC) Information Technology (IT) and Statistics departments as the country prepares for the 2024 elections.
According to the NDC, these areas are the EC's weakest links, highlighting numerous instances where the party’s National Elections and IT Directorate had to correct the EC's figures over recent months.
The Director of Elections and IT for NDC, Dr Edward Omane Boamah points these out in post on Facebook on Monday July 29, 2024
According to him, various issues, such as the inappropriate use of software like CorelDRAW for arithmetic purposes and recurring network failures that have plagued registration exercises are some of these weakest links ahead of the December polls.
‘ The NDC suggests that the EC's failure to address these avoidable problems may be deliberate.
Despite these challenges, the NDC assures the public that they will continue to provide accurate figures to counter any errors from the EC‘, he assured
The party is further urging voters not to be swayed by fear-mongering about IT transmission issues, emphasizing that Ghana’s elections are conducted manually.
The NDC stress the importance of vigilance at polling stations and collation centers to ensure accurate figures are captured and challenged if necessary.
Dr Omane Boamah emphasized the party's commitment to timely and accurate collation of results, promising to protect the integrity of the votes.
They called on voters to support John Dramani Mahama for well-paying jobs through the 24-hour economy initiative, assuring that the NDC will relay election results promptly and safeguard the democratic process
