Mahama visits Duffour

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, pleasantly surprised his former presidential contender, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, with an unannounced visit.
The unexpected meeting involved in-depth discussions and strategic planning for the upcoming 2024 general elections, with the former President accompanied by NDC General Secretary Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey and other national executives.
John Mahama shared the news of the surprise visit on his Facebook page, emphasising that the meeting aimed not only to discuss election strategies but also to renew the friendship between the influential political figures.
The goal was to foster collaboration as they worked together in preparation for the 2024 general elections.
Dr Kwabena Duffuor, a former Finance Minister, withdrew from the NDC presidential race, citing the party leadership's breach of a prior agreement and assurance.
He had previously raised concerns about the register and expected the party to address these issues before the polls.
Despite attempting to halt the May 13 primaries through legal means, Dr Duffuor eventually withdrew his interlocutory injunction in the interest of the NDC.
Following the recent meeting with John Mahama, the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana pledged to actively participate in the NDC's electioneering campaign, expressing his commitment to helping the party regain power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections.
