NDC Legal Director urges public to disregard claims over Saviour Church tragedy
The Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Eduzi Tameklo, has urged Ghanaians to disregard what he described as unfounded claims suggesting there was no government's acknowledgement of the deaths of young people from the Saviour Church in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking in a brief statement on his Facebook wall on the matter, Mr. Tameklo dismissed the allegations as misleading and called on “well-meaning Ghanaians” to focus on the facts rather than speculation.
Some elements in the opposition New Patriotic Party have accused the government of not same for the sixteen young members of the Saviour Church who died in a tragic accident on the Kumasi-Accra Highway.
According to the critics, the government should have given the same attention it gave to the passing of the eight individuals who died in a tragic military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region
“I won’t say much,” he noted, “but such claims should be ignored.”
The deaths in question have drawn national attention, with various stakeholders expressing condolences and calling for thorough investigations into the circumstances that led to the incident.
