The Director of Legal Affairs for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Godwin Eduzi Tamekloe, has called on politicians across the political divide to reject violence and promote peaceful conduct during elections.

Speaking in an interview during the parliamentary re-run in the Ablekuma North Constituency on Friday, Mr. Tamekloe emphasised the need for political actors to prioritise national unity and democratic values over confrontation.

“We must eschew violence in our politics,” he stated, stressing that elections should be about ideas and service, not intimidation or aggression.

We must let the good people of Ghana determine who leads them, he said 

His comments come in the wake of tensions surrounding the re-run, which was ordered by the Electoral Commision to determine the final outcome of the December 7, 2024 parliamentary elections in the constituency.

Mr. Tamekloe urged all stakeholders — including political parties, the Electoral Commission, and the security agencies — to work together to safeguard the integrity of Ghana’s democratic process.
