NDC urges strict adherence to election guidelines on validating stamps
Dr. Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called for strict compliance with electoral protocols regarding the handling of validating stamps in tomorrow’s general election.
In a statement issued on Friday, December 6, 2024, Dr. Boamah emphasised the importance of ensuring that validating stamps remain securely wrapped until the commencement of voting at polling stations.
He stressed that unwrapping the stamps prematurely could compromise the integrity of the electoral process.
“Insist and ensure the validating stamp is wrapped and remains so.
It must only be unwrapped at the polling stations before voting begins on December 7, 2024,” Dr. Boamah stated.
He also issued a caution against any deviations, referencing an incident in the Offinso South Constituency where unwrapped validating stamps were allegedly used during the distribution of election materials.
The NDC official provided a checklist of items that Returning Officers, their deputies, and other electoral officials must include in the ballot boxes at each polling station to ensure the proper and legitimate conduct of the election.
Dr. Boamah urged party agents and the public to remain vigilant and report any irregularities to safeguard the transparency and fairness of the electoral process.
