NPP to hold peace pact meeting ahead of 2026 presidential primary
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will on Thursday, January 22, 2026, hold a peace pact meeting as part of efforts to ensure a smooth and violence-free presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026.
The event, organised by the NPP Presidential Elections Committee, will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the Asante Hall of the Alisa Hotel and will bring together key stakeholders, including representatives of the media.
A major highlight of the meeting will be the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by aspirants and party officials, committing all parties to a peaceful, orderly and transparent conduct of the 2026 NPP presidential primary.
The initiative is aimed at promoting unity, tolerance and internal cohesion within the party as it prepares to elect its flagbearer. Party officials say the peace pact underscores the NPP’s resolve to uphold democratic values and avoid actions that could undermine the integrity of the internal electoral process.
The Presidential Elections Committee has described the event as a critical step toward safeguarding peace before, during and after the January 31 primary, and has called on all stakeholders to support the process in the interest of the party and the nation.
