Parliament has passed the COVID-19 Health Recovery bill 2021.

The objective of the bill is to introduce a COVID-19 health recovery levy on the supply of goods and services in the country as well as the import of goods and services to raise revenue to support COVID-19 expenditure and related matters.

The bill was passed despite opposition from the Minority.

Minority Leader Haruna Idrissu called for a rejection of the bill, which he said will only exacerbate the plight of the ordinary Ghanaian.

The house, also, on Tuesday, 30 March passed the Appropriation Bill 2021.

The bill sought authority to enable a sum of money not exceeding some GHS129 billion to be issued from the consolidated fund and such other public funds during the financial year commencing from 1 January 2021 and ending on 31 December 2021 for the purpose of meeting government expenditure.
