Parliamentary delegation pays condolence visit to family of late Murtala Mohammed

A delegation from the Majority and Minority Caucuses in Parliament on Thursday morning paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
The visit took place at the late minister’s residence in La Tse-Addo area in the Greater Accra Region, where the parliamentary group expressed their sympathies and solidarity with the grieving family following his untimely death in the tragic military helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
The delegation was received by the family spokesperson, Alhassan Suhuyini, Member of Parliament for Tamale North, who expressed appreciation on behalf of the bereaved relatives for the outpouring of support and the honour shown by Parliament.
Dr. Murtala Mohammed was among eight individuals, including two cabinet ministers and senior military officers, who perished in the fatal crash during an official assignment in the Ashanti Region.
Parliament is expected to hold formal tributes and observances in honour of the late minister and his colleagues in the coming days.
Expressing her grief, Minister for Tourism, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, expressed concerns over how the disaster is being covered on social media.
