Second session of Ghana’s ninth Parliament to commence on February 3
The Parliament of Ghana has officially announced the commencement of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic, scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 12 noon.
The announcement is contained in a Commencement Instrument, 2026, issued by the Office of the Speaker of Parliament and dated January 19, 2026.
The instrument was signed by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, in accordance with Article 112(1) of the 1992 Constitution.
According to the notice, Parliament House in Accra has been appointed as the venue for the official opening of the session.
The Speaker, exercising the constitutional powers conferred on his office, formally declared the date, time, and place for the start of parliamentary business for the new session.
The Second Session is expected to see Members of Parliament resume legislative work, including debates on national policy, consideration of bills, committee activities, and oversight of government actions.
The commencement marks a significant moment in Ghana’s parliamentary calendar, as lawmakers return to the House to continue deliberations aimed at advancing governance and national development.
