Tensions erupt over NADMO appointment in Kwahu Afram Plains North

A growing controversy has engulfed the Kwahu Afram Plains North District in the Eastern Region following the appointment of Eric Aziaklo as the District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).

According to local reports, Mr. Aziaklo received his official appointment letter from NADMO’s national office and assumed duty on June 9, 2025.

However, District Chief Executive (DCE)  Kate Mawusi Babanawo has allegedly refused to recognise him in his new role.

The DCE insists that both Mr. Aziaklo and his deputy must submit their appointment letters to the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council for confirmation before they can officially operate under her administration.

The standoff took a dramatic turn when Phillip Adinkra, the NDC’s Afram Plains North Constituency Organiser, and some party supporters reportedly locked the NADMO district office and seized the keys, effectively halting all operations.

Sources suggest the impasse stems from an internal power struggle and allegations of political favouritism in NADMO appointments.

The DCE reportedly claimed that NDC Eastern Regional executives had pledged the position to Phillip Senyo Adinkra, the constituency organiser, leading to further discord.

As of June 25, 2025, the NADMO office in the district remains locked, with all official activities suspended until the matter is resolved.
