UFB calls for unity, discipline ahead of NPP flagbearer election

As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepares for the upcoming 31st January flagbearer election, United for Bawumia (UFB) is urging all party members and aspirants to prioritise unity and discipline.
In a statement released today, the advocacy group emphasised that while healthy competition is integral to the democratic process, it is crucial to maintain respect for one another and for the NPP’s shared legacy.
The NPP, known for its role in driving Ghana’s growth in recent years, is now focusing on selecting a leader who will carry the party’s vision forward into the 2028 elections.
However, UFB stressed that internal divisions and negative campaigning, particularly actions that undermine the party’s accomplishments, could harm its chances at regaining power.
“The race to select our flagbearer should be based on ideas, leadership qualities, and a shared vision for Ghana’s future, not personal attacks or political point-scoring,” said Alhassan Yakubu, President of UFB.
“After this election, it is vital that we come together to support the chosen candidate with unity, so that we can move forward with one message, one vision, and one purpose.”
UFB’s call comes at a critical time for the NPP, as the party looks to secure a victory in the 2028 general elections.
With Ghana’s political landscape constantly evolving, party unity has never been more essential for a successful bid to retain leadership. UFB’s leadership is committed to ensuring that the party remains focused on the bigger picture—the prosperity of Ghana.
“We must remember that our goal is to work together, with discipline and mutual respect, to give Ghanaians a compelling reason to entrust us with their vote in 2028.
The NPP’s track record is one of progress, and we must continue to build on that foundation, not tear it down for short-term political advantage,” Yakubu added.
