Member of Parliament for Wa West Constituency, Mr Peter Laanchen Toobu, has officially launched a new agricultural initiative dubbed “Water is Wealth” at the Siiru Dam Site.

The project aims to boost dry-season farming and enhance agricultural productivity in the constituency.

As part of the launch, thirty-five (35) pumping machines along with essential accessories were distributed to six groups, including three women’s cooperatives and 29 individual farmers, to facilitate irrigation during the dry-season.

Mr. Toobu expressed gratitude to key stakeholders who supported the initiative, including Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources; Col. Buah, Commander of NAiMOS; the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Wa West; the District Director of Agriculture and his team; the NDC Constituency Chairman and his team; the project coordinator and winner of the Wa West 2025 Best Farmer Award; local chiefs; and, of course, the farmers themselves.

He also acknowledged the media for their role in educating the public and sharing information about the project.

The “Water is Wealth” initiative is expected to improve access to irrigation, increase crop yields during the dry season, and empower farmers—particularly women—to strengthen their livelihoods and contribute to the constituency’s agricultural development.
