2026 FIFA WC: More friendlies confirmed for Black Stars after Austra, Germany clashes
The Sports and Recreation Minister and Buem Member of Parliament, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that the Black Stars will play additional international friendly matches in May and June as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana, four-time African champions, have already scheduled warm-up matches against Austria and Germany in March as part of the team’s early build-up to the tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Adams revealed that further friendlies have been arranged to help fine-tune the squad ahead of the global showpiece.
“The Black Stars will play additional friendlies in May and June, after the matches against Austria and Germany, as part of our preparations for the World Cup,” he said.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L and will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto. They will then face England in Boston on June 23 before concluding the group stage against Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.
After early exits at the group stage in Brazil 2014 and Qatar 2022, Ghana are determined to make a stronger impression when they return to football’s biggest stage for the fifth time in 2026.
