Antoine Semenyo settles into Manchester City, winning praise from teammates and Guardiola
Manchester City’s new forward Antoine Semenyo is gradually settling into life at the Etihad following his debut performances, with teammates and manager praising both his ability and attitude.
Speaking after City’s recent clash with Newcastle at St. James’ Park, midfielder Bernardo Silva described Semenyo as “not just a very good player but also a very good guy, which fits right in with the team.
“He is a fantastic guy who wants to help us. Hopefully, he can keep going.”
Manager Pep Guardiola acknowledged that the forward’s early games have involved an adjustment period, noting that Semenyo and fellow striker Erling Haaland were “not completely connected” initially.
“They were not ready to get that ball,” Guardiola explaine to Sky Sports.
He added that the pair were better integrated in the second half, highlighting Semenyo's commendable attitude and effectiveness: “Every time the ball arrives at him, he is always there.”
Semenyo himself has expressed gratitude for the support from City’s squad.
“I’ve just come into that, and they’ve helped me with my confidence. It’s been a lot, definitely been a lot, but I’m enjoying it so far, I’m definitely picking things up very quickly,” he said.
He added: “I’m enjoying it. I’m playing with a smile on my face. I’m enjoying every moment.”
The comments underline Semenyo’s smooth integration into City’s squad, balancing learning curves with growing confidence on the pitch, and suggest the forward is gradually becoming an active contributor to Guardiola’s attacking setup.
