FIFA WC 2026: Kudus excited to play England in Group L
Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus has described the Black Stars’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup as a major achievement, while welcoming the prospect of facing England in the group stage.
“Just qualifying for the World Cup is already a big statement from us. And it’s good that we face England in the group. It will be an exciting match. I’m looking forward to it,” Kudus said.
The West Ham United star acknowledged the quality of the English side but expressed confidence in Ghana’s preparation and readiness for the challenge ahead.
“We fully understand the team we’ll be up against and their quality, and we will be ready for it,” he added.
Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside England, Panama and Croatia for the expanded 48-team tournament, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Black Stars will be aiming to build on their strong qualification campaign as they seek to make a meaningful impact at the global showpiece.
Former Black Stars winger Laryea Kingston had similar sentiments, considering the final draw results from Friday, December 5, 2025.
“It was exciting seeing Ghana paired in same group with England. We all know England is the second home for Ghanaians. We use to play our friendly games there. Our game against England will exciting” he said.
