We’re targeting competence – GFA on Tech. Dir role

The Head of Communication at the Ghana Football Association Henry Asante Twum, has provided an update on the FA’s search for a new technical boss.
The country’s football governing body is currently in search of a new Technical Director to replace veteran Ghanaian coach Francis Oti Akenteng.
Six persons, according to the FA, have been interviewed via video conferencing, one of which will be handed the job in the coming days, be it a local or an expatriate director.
Oti Akenteng vacated his role in March 2020 with the GFA promising a replacement by May.
However, the coronavirus pandemic seems to have slowed down proceedings, with football stakeholders and fans alike left wondering what is next.
However, Mr Asante Twum told Accra-based Kasapa FM that: “Everyone who comes on board needs to justify why he/she has to be the next technical director of the FA, whether a local or an expatriate director. It all boils down to the competence of the person”.
“I am very confident that with football to begin soon, we will fill the void soon, hopefully before the start of the league season. We will be looking at our philosophy, where we want to go as a footballing nation, not forgetting our financial muscle.
“All these factors will be considered and again whether a local or foreign director.
“I believe in the committee set up to handle the interview section and I am very confident that we will appoint the right person for the job”, he said.
The new Technical Director of the Ghana FA will be tasked to steer the affairs of Ghana football technically to aid the game’s renaissance.
He will also be tasked to come up with a blueprint regarding how football should be played at the various national levels.
