Concerned Drivers Association calls for temporary access roads during construction works
The Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana is urging the government to provide temporary access roads in areas where major road construction projects are underway to reduce disruptions to transport services.
The association says although drivers support the ongoing road projects being undertaken by the government, the absence of alternative routes is making it difficult for commercial drivers to operate.
Speaking on the issue, the National Public Relations Officer of the Association, David Agboado, said many drivers are struggling to use roads affected by the construction works.
According to him, the situation is reducing drivers' daily income and making it more difficult for them to transport passengers.
Mr Agboado appealed to the government and the relevant authorities to create temporary access roads while construction continues to minimise the impact on motorists and commuters.
He said the Association supports the road infrastructure projects but believes measures should be put in place to ensure drivers can continue operating with minimal disruption during the construction period.
