Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Mr Kofi Adams, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to deepening ties with Türkiye during his participation at the 13th World Cooperation Industries (WCI) Forum in Istanbul.

The global gathering brought together policymakers, business leaders, and government officials to explore fresh opportunities for investment and collaboration.

On the sidelines of the forum, Mr. Adams held bilateral talks with Türkiye’s Minister of Trade, where discussions centered on expanding trade relations, advancing technology exchange, boosting agriculture, and accelerating industrial development. Both parties pledged to intensify cooperation aimed at job creation, infrastructure growth, and knowledge sharing.

A key highlight of the discussions was Ghana’s request for Turkish Airlines to increase its weekly flights to Accra from 12 to 14, creating two daily connections between the two countries.

Turkish authorities welcomed the proposal, which is expected to strengthen Ghana’s position as a strategic gateway for trade and tourism in West Africa.

Mr Adams emphasised that improved air connectivity would ease travel for business leaders, professionals, and skilled workers, while further enhancing Ghana’s role as a hub for regional commerce and investment.

Beyond trade and aviation, the Minister also explored opportunities for collaboration in sports development.

He expressed Ghana’s readiness to leverage Türkiye’s expertise to modernise stadiums, construct new sports facilities, and rollout community-based projects.

“Sports play a vital role in empowering our youth, improving public health, and driving inclusive economic growth,” Mr. Adams said, adding that sports cooperation would be integral to Ghana’s broader development agenda.

Mr. Adams commended Ghana’s diplomatic mission in Türkiye for fostering stronger business links and opening doors for mutually beneficial partnerships.

He also lauded H.E. Hüseyin Güngör, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Ghana, for his commitment to advancing bilateral trade and investment.

The Minister stressed that Ghana’s participation in the WCI Forum reflects the government’s determination to secure meaningful partnerships with Türkiye.

He assured potential investors that Ghana offers a stable business environment and stands ready to benefit from Türkiye’s expertise in construction, technology, agriculture, and sports infrastructure.

“Ghana is open for business and eager to strengthen ties with Türkiye across multiple sectors for the benefit of our people,” he affirmed.
