ROK 3 becomes ROK GH on GOtv and DStv
ROK 3 has become ROK GH a channel dedicated to showcasing Ghanaian entertainment ON DStv and GOtv, multi-channel pay television platform Multichoice has announced.
According to the multi-channel pay television platform, the “repositioning” and “rebranding” of ROK 3 is geared towards “celebrating Ghana’s cultural prominence” and to keep viewers indulged as Ghana which is known for its vibrant culture has produced some of the best artists and talents on the continent.
The repositioning and rebranding is being carried out by CANAL+ Group in association with DStv and GOtv and dedicated to showcasing Ghanaian entertainment began streaming on Saturday, 1 August 2020.
However, “ROK GH will remain exclusively available on DStv and GOtv and will be occupying a very special place in the ROK Family.”
The pay television platform noted that: “The goal is for ROK GH to reflect Ghana’s cultural radiance by curating and airing some of the most compelling movies, TV series and music videos topping the charts!”
The channel is also “positioned as a launching platform for upcoming artists and filmmakers.
The rebranded channel is expected “through a rich and varied programming in English and Twi,” to become the home of Ghanaian entertainment, a channel which celebrates local talents, and where Ghanaian viewers will enjoy the following content such as: “3 daily music belts, showcasing the best of Ghanaian and West-African Afropop, 3 new movies per weekend, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, 1 outstanding TV series from Monday to Thursday and an exclusive magazine show, covering the latest industry news and Ghanaian celebrity gossip, fully produced by the ROK GH local production team.”
Viewers will “enjoy captivating Ghanaian movies such as BEAUTIFUL MIND, 95 AND AKWANSIDIE as well as the second season of the much popular TV series ENTRAPPED.”
Director of Programming of the ROK Channels Cédric Pierre-Louis, noted that: “With this new positioning and our ambitious plans in terms of content development, we believe ROK GH will become a major reference in terms of Ghanaian entertainment. Switching from the generic ROK 3 brand name to the catchier and more assertive ROK GH, confirms our commitment towards the expansion of Ghanaian creative industries and the satisfaction of our viewers.”
On her part, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ROK Studios Mary Njoku said: “Over the last few years I have made Ghana my home. The launch of ROK GH is an amazing opportunity for me to become a positive contributor to the vibrant Ghanaian content industry where there is no shortage of talented entertainers and storytellers.”

The ROK GH channel is available across Africa on DStv Channel 164 and GOtv MAX and Plus on Channel 118.
