V/R: Horti gets new chief and queen mother

Two persons were on Tuesday, 31 December 2019 outdoored as traditional leaders in Horti, a farming community in the Avenor traditional area in the Akatsi South District of the Volta Region.
The new chief was installed under the stool name Togbui Ladzekpo Tetteh-Gefu IV while the new queen mother was installed under the stool name Mama Nyafieve III.
Known in private life as George Ahiaho, the new chief of Horti is an Accra-based businessman while the queen mother is a business woman known as Jemima Hetsa Abadzidovi in private life.
Togbui Ladzekpo Tetteh-Gefu IV, who is a native of Tovi, succeeds Togbui Ladzekpo III, who died and was buried in 2016.
Togbui Ladzekpo Tetteh-Gefu IV pledged to uphold the customs of the land and work hard to ensure development in the area.
He also promised to prioritise skills development among the youth, a measure to eradicate poverty in the Avenor area and ensure quality education and healthcare for the people by collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
For her part, Mama Nyafieve III promised to use the experience gained over the past years as a businesswoman to empower women in the community.
“My personal consideration for accepting to undertake this traditional leadership role of the Tetteh-Gefu royalty at this time of my life stems from the fact that the wrinkles on my skin are hiding layers of wisdom and knowledge which would go a long way in promoting women empowerment and employable skills for my people,” she stated.
Present at the ceremony was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akatsi South Constituency, Mr Bernard Ahiafor, who reiterated his commitment to lobbying for development projects for the area.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Akatsi South, Mr Leo Nelson Adzidogah who was the special guest for the installation ceremony, reiterated his commitment to involve the community in decision-making for the growth of the district.
