E. V. Smith: Ghana’s ambassador to U.S. aims to 'make Ghana look good', urges embassy staff to uphold country’s reputation
Ghana’s newly appointed Ambassador to the United States, Emmanuel Victor Smith, has called on staff at the Embassy in Washington, D.C., to work with dedication and maintain high standards of conduct in order to protect Ghana’s international image.
He made the appeal during a welcome reception held at his official residence on Sunday, September 5, 2025, where he was formally introduced to the embassy staff.

Ambassador Smith arrived in Washington with his family and was warmly received by the Deputy Head of Mission, Ambassador Mrs Jane Gasu Aheto, along with other members of the diplomatic team.
In her welcome remarks, Ambassador Aheto expressed her gratitude for his safe and timely arrival, and voiced her optimism for a strong working relationship based on unity and mutual understanding.
She emphasised the need for collaboration to address pressing issues and to continue serving Ghana’s interests effectively.

Ambassador Smith commended the embassy's management for successfully overseeing recent internal restructuring efforts.
He reiterated the importance of diligence and professionalism, urging staff to avoid actions that could tarnish Ghana’s reputation.
“My goal is to make Ghana look good,” he stated, encouraging the team to remain hopeful and resilient. “There is hope, so do not give up.”
