GAF heli crash: Majority Caucus 'with a deeply broken heart' mourns passing of gov't officials, military personnel

The Majority Caucus of Parliament has “with a deeply broken heart and profound sorrow” extended “deepest condolences to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of our colleagues and distinguished patriotic Ghanaians who lost their lives in the tragic helicopter crash that occurred on August 6, 2025 at Adansi Akrofuom District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana”.
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, signing the statement, noted all the eight individuals who died in the crash and inferno, by name, noting the nation mourned their “painful loss”.
“Our former colleagues in Parliament and in Government and the officers we have lost dedicated their lives to the service of our nation,” the statement said.
“Their untimely and tragic demise is a devastating blow to Parliament, the Government, the Armed Forces and the people of Ghana as a whole.”
“On behalf of the Parliamentary Caucus, I join the President, Members of the Government and all Ghanaians in expressing heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” Mahama Ayariga said.
“Their sacrifice, patriotism, and commitment to duty will forever be etched in the history of our Republic,” the Leader of Government Business eulogised, praying: “May their souls Rest in Peace.”

4. Dr. Samuel Sarpong – Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
5. Samuel Aboagye – Former Parliamentary Candidate
6. Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala – Pilot
7. Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu – Co-pilot
8. Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah – Crew member
