The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has assured the leadership and rank-and-file of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) that the government is taking decisive and comprehensive measures to retool the military in line with national security goals.

Speaking during an engagement with military officials, Dr. Boamah underscored the Mahama administration’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the operational capacity of the Armed Forces to maintain internal peace, protect national borders, and respond to emerging threats.

“We're taking additional significant steps to re-tool the Ghana Armed Forces, ensuring internal peace and security everywhere and safeguarding our territories,” the Minister affirmed.

He emphasised that these efforts form part of the broader #ResetGhana agenda—a policy framework championed by the government to rebuild critical institutions and restore national stability.

Touching on the longstanding conflict in the Upper East Region, Dr. Boamah expressed optimism that the government’s interventions will soon yield lasting peace.

“Lasting peace shall surely return to Bawku and all affected areas,” he stated.

He called for continued collaboration among stakeholders to build a safer, stronger Ghana, noting that the path to national transformation requires unity, resilience, and shared responsibility.
