W/R: T’di baby thief gets 5yrs in prison

She was sentenced on Friday, 26 April 2019.
She pleaded guilty to the offence.
The convict stole a one-year-old baby boy, Francis Mawusi Ahiabenu, from his mother at the Takoradi market circle.
Her sentence came after a hospital result demanded by the court at the last hearing, showed that she was of sound mind and not mentally unsound as claimed by her mother.
The suspect was said to have sweet-talked the mother of the boy, Nana Akosua Bowaa, into handing the little boy and his sibling so she could buy some pastries for them.
Ms Afianku took the two children to a nearby pastry joint and bought the younger one some sausage, left him in the custody of the pastries seller and sent the other sibling, Mawuli, back to the mother.
Ms Afianku then went back to the pastry joint, picked up the little boy and fled with him.
